Cue 1 - Spotlight - GO!

Di Treagus – ACF PPMG Convenor.

Di Treagus will be known to many of you as the ACF Convenor of the calisthenics section of the Pan Pacific Master’s Games (PPMG). Di has been in the role for thirteen years – ever since past-ACF President Lynne Hayward encouraged her to head the first ever International Calisthenics Competition at PPMG. Di remembers the struggle to get teams to enter the first PPMG – and how that compares to 2024’s capacity number of entries, including 40 teams, 91 graceful solos, and 50 duos. Di sees her role as “ensuring we have a well-run competition that all our stakeholders and volunteers enjoy” and describes a typical day in the role as “answering lots of emails”.

Her goal is to make Masters bigger and better than ever, and she would love to see calisthenics introduced into other Masters games across Australia.

Di never competed in calisthenics herself – but was drawn to it when she saw a sign for a local club at her daughter’s kindergarten. Over the years, she has developed a love for the sport that she shares with her three daughters, and has taken on many volunteer roles at club level. She is motivated by the volunteers throughout calisthenics, from ACF Nationals, State Championships, and Club level. She has learnt that volunteers are at the heart of calisthenics. and would encourage everyone to volunteer – as “you will always take more away than what you give”.

When Di is not answering emails – she loves watching her grandchildren play sport, enjoying her family, and playing golf. Her best piece of advice? “Don’t give up on your belief as you can always succeed. From the first games in 2012 we have learnt so much and the PPMG are a success.”
