Samantha Scott – The Importance of Connection – Gold Medal Honours.

At just 19 years of age, Samantha Scott has achieved a great deal in her 17 years of calisthenics participation.Samantha officially began her calisthenics journey at the age of 2, often accompanying her mum, Nat Scott, to training sessions, and reflects on its profound impact on her life. She is a proud Senior at Applecross Calisthenics Club in Western Australia, coaching the Applecross Junior 1 team and serving as the Tier 1 Assistant Coach for the WA Junior team for the upcoming AusCaliCarnavale. She has represented Western Australia at the ACF National Championships in teams, solos, duos, and gracefuls on ten occasions. Inspired by her mum’s dedication and passion, Samantha attributes her development as a person and performer to the influence of calisthenics.

Among Samantha’s favourite moments is winning the A Grade Junior 2 State Championship Title in 2024. She sites coaching as being an incredible addition to her calisthenics schedule and she loved watching her team team nail six incredible performances and their huge smiles every time they walked off the stage – a testament to their hard work.

Her proudest moment, however, is the achivement of Gold Medal with Honours this year. She says the medals journey is both challenging and rewarding, and something she will always cherish. Balancing coaching, solo and duo performances, and a hospital placement for her physiotherapy degree, she celebrated with her support crew, including her long-time coach Tiffany Zubonja and her mum.

Samantha believes that any training is good training, and she strives to maintain a positive attitude, knowing that hard work will pay off on stage. Her dad’s advice about the mental game being as crucial as the physical one resonates with her, and she trusts in her preparation and muscle memory to guide her through competitions. Samantha’s commitment to her sport, coupled with her strong support network, has helped her overcome challenges and continue to thrive in her calisthenics journey.

Samantha has been blessed with immense support throughout her calisthenics career, especially from her graceful and solo coach Tiff, and her family, who are her greatest fans. Her advice to someone just starting out in calisthenics is to simply enjoy it and soak in all the amazing opportunities the sport offers. Her trick is to “Do it for YOU:” She knows it is easy to compare yourselves to others, but she believes the best work comes from doing what you love for yourself.

Samantha has many goals for her future in calisthenics – including competing at RSSS Graceful and Physical solo competition. She loves how the sport is evolving and is excited by the AusCaliCarnivale 2025. “I love how this competition looks at Calisthenics as a community and is going to be accessible to so many people no matter their experience in Calisthenics – whether it be as a costume maker, performer or cali mum”.

Outside of calisthenics Samantha loves spending time with family and friends, at the beach and surrounded by good food. She is currently halfway through her Physiotherapy degree and loves how it helps prepare her for competitions and taking care of her body. She hopes to continue to contribute to calisthenics through her coaching so she can share her passion for the sport, continuing to build connections and contribute to her amazing village.
