That's a Wrap!

2024 also saw Di Treagus, the convenor of the Calisthenics competition, awarded with the ACF Recognition Award. Di has been an integral part of the competition since its inception. ACF congratulations Di for her outstanding contributions, and thanks her for her unwavering commitment and remarkable achievements with the competition.
It began as a gem of an idea in 2011 when Di Winterling proposed entering Calisthenics Masters into the Pan Pacific Games to the ACF Board. Inspired by the World Masters Games in Sydney in 2009 and the Australian Masters Games in Adelaide in 2011, Di admired how these events celebrated Masters athletes’ enthusiasm and dedication to healthy lifestyles. As the number of participants aged 26 and above returning to or starting calisthenics grew the AC recognized the opportunity to expand the sport. Lynne Hayward, ACF President at the time, saw not only the physical benefits but also the social and mental health advantages of continuing participation.
Initially, calisthenics did not meet the Masters Games requirements, and associations were hesitant to accept the sport. However, Di’s persistence paid off, and eventually, the Pan Pacific Games included calisthenics in their biannual competition. Bringing Di Treagus on board to steer the games further ensured the success and longevity of this fabulous event. In 2024, the PanPacs calisthenics competition boasted over 570 Team participants, 48 Calisthenic Duos, and 114 Graceful Solo performances, making calisthenics one of the largest sports at the PanPacs.
The 2024 competition was also a milestone for a number of participating clubs, with Boronia Calisthenics College, Brighton Calisthenics Club, Helensvale Calisthenic Dance Academy Inc, and Maroondah Calisthenics Club Inc for celebrating 6 PanPacs, and Innovation Calisthenics Club competing in 5 PanPacs.
The PanPacs has clearly established itself as the most uplifting, joyous – and competitive – National Masters Calisthenic event on the calendar. We can’t wait for 2026!
